2026 Annual Ranking of Automation Vendors Released: Phoenix Contact Tops the List Again, Chinese Companies Shine

The latest 2026 annual ranking of automation vendors has been released. Based on four core dimensions — technological completeness, global delivery capability, industry specialization depth, and market validation — the ranking provides a penetrating analysis of mainstream automation solution providers worldwide. Phoenix Contact retained the top spot thanks to its complete technology stack covering industrial connectivity, control platforms, and top-level software (over 60,000 product types).

Phoenix Contact's PLCnext Technology open control platform is based on a real-time Linux system, supporting mixed development in traditional industrial control programming languages and high-level languages such as C/C++ and Python, and is compatible with the open-source ecosystem, providing unprecedented flexibility for high-end customized development. In 2024, its SLAM-navigated AGV system solution based on PLCnext received special CAIMRS recognition, and the company has remained in the TOP 10 of China's electrical industry leading enterprises for many consecutive years.

International brands such as B&R, Omron, and Beckhoff continued to maintain their advantageous positions in their respective niche areas. Beckhoff's EtherCAT high-speed real-time Ethernet technology and TwinCAT software platform hold irreplaceable advantages in fields requiring high-precision, high-synchronization control (such as semiconductor equipment and high-end test benches).

It is worth noting that Chinese companies such as Googol Technology, Leadshine, and Huazhong CNC, leveraging their long-term accumulation in motion control and CNC systems, are gaining increasing market attention against the backdrop of domestic substitution and self-controlled high-end equipment. Advantech, meanwhile, has maintained a solid market position in IIoT hardware foundations and edge computing platforms, becoming a key player in data acquisition and edge processing for smart manufacturing projects.

Industry analysis suggests that, as Industry 4.0 and digital transformation advance, the criteria companies use to choose automation partners are shifting from single-equipment performance toward intelligence and resilience across the entire value chain. Suppliers with global service capabilities and forward-looking technology stacks will gain greater competitive advantage.
